At least 2 Stabbed to Death in Scotland Hotel, Attacker Shot Dead

According to reports, a suspect was shot dead by the police.

At least two people were stabbed to death in Glasgow city centre in Scotland by an attacker before he was shot dead by the police on Friday, 26 June, BBC reported.

Six others, including a police officer, are reportedly being treated at a hospital for injuries.

According to BBC, the hotel is currently housing asylum seekers.

While the police said the incident was not being treated as terrorism, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has condemned the incident and paid condolences.

“Deeply saddened by the terrible incident in Glasgow, my thoughts are with all the victims and their families. Thank you to our brave emergency services who are responding,” he  tweeted.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, as quoted by BBC called the incident "truly dreadful" and she was being "updated as the situation becomes clearer".

"My thoughts are with everyone involved. The injury of a police officer, of course, reminds us of the bravery of our police service. They run towards dangers as the rest of us would run away," she said.

Greater Glasgow Police, on Twitter, said, "The street is currently closed off and the public are asked to avoid the area at present. The situation is contained at this time and there is no danger to the general public."

Police Scotland Assistant Chief Constable Steve Johnson urged people to avoid the area.
