A pro-gun activist, Jamie Gilt, was shot by her 4-year-old son in the back in Jacksonville, Florida, USA. The 31-year-old was driving her truck when her son managed to get hold of her handgun and shot her.

A policeman noticed the woman behaving frantically inside the four-door pickup truck and realized that she had been shot. Gilt told the policeman that her four-year-old son had accidentally shot her.

A handgun was found on the floor, in the back of the vehicle. There didn’t appear to be any bullet entry points on the exterior of the truck.

The incident happened hours after Gilt bragged about her son getting ‘jacked up’ to shoot a target.

She was shot through the seat and the round went through her back. There was a booster seat in the back of the vehicle, however, the boy was not strapped in when the policeman got to them.

Gilt has been a poster-girl for pro-gun activists and has been very vocal about her support towards the gun laws.

A raging debate continues over gun control laws in the US and current President Barack Obama has been pushing for stricter gun control laws to control gun violence.
