Duke of Edinburgh Prince Philip Discharged Post-Treatment

Prince Philip was discharged from the King Edward VII Hospital in London after undergoing treatment for an infection arising from a pre-existing condition. He was admitted on the night of 20 June, as a precautionary measure, said palace officials.

Prince Philip was discharged from from hospital on Thursday after treatment for an infection.

Philip, also the Duke of Edinburgh, was admitted to hospital on Tuesday as a precautionary measure for the treatment of an infection arising from a pre-existing condition.

"The Duke of Edinburgh left hospital this morning," a Palace spokesman said.

Prince Philip Hospitalised

Prince Philip has been admitted to a hospital for treatment of an infection and will not be able to attend the queen's speech, Buckingham Palace said on 21 June.

Philip, husband to Queen Elizabeth II, was admitted as a precautionary measure and is in good spirits, the palace said in a statement, adding that the infection is related to a pre-existing condition.

The 96-year-old Duke of Edinburgh recently announced that he was stepping down from public events.

The palace said that Philip, who has suffered heart ailments in the past, is being treated at the King Edward VII Hospital in London after being admitted on the night of 20 June.

The queen is scheduled to outline the government's legislative agenda in her speech Wednesday. Prince Charles will attend in Philip's place. Queen Elizabeth II also plans to attend the horse races at Royal Ascot on Wednesday afternoon, the palace said.
