A video showing a young man beating a girl is going viral on social media to claim that the video is from India and it reflects, "typical North Indian behaviour."
It mentions that the video highlights the societal mindset towards women and that no one had the right to act like this.
What we found: At first, we divided the video into multiple screenshots and performed a reverse image search on Google using some of the keyframes from the viral video.
This led us reports from 2022 by the Malaysian news site Wau Post along with Singaporean news platforms, News Nestia and The New Paper.
The reports indicated that the brother brutally beat his sister after he discovered she was deceiving him to see her boyfriend while abandoning their ill mother.

It also included a statement from Kota Kinabalu Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zaidi Abdullah, who mentioned that no reports have been filed regarding this issue.
They also mentioned that there is no verification regarding the occurrence of this incident in Kota Kinabalu.
An X user also posted this video on their account in 2022, inquiring for information about this video.
