A video showing chaos inside a shop with clothes being thrown at a huge crowd has gone viral on social media, claiming that the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Mahila Morcha members ransacked a saree shop in Muzaffarpur during the 'Bihar bandh' protest on 4 September.

Why Bihar Bandh?: The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) held a 'Bihar Band' on 4 September against the abusive language used by an individual for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mother at a rally for the Voter Adhikar Yatra in Darbhanga.

  • The video is from the sale day at a shop named 'Agarwal Sarees' in Udaipur, Rajasthan.

  • The owner of the shop confirmed the same to The Quint.

What we found: We divided the video into multiple screenshots and ran a Google reverse image search on some of them.

  • It led us to the same video on Instagram by a page named 'Agarwal Sarees' from 20 August.

  • It is to be noted that the Bihar Band protest was on 4 September while, this video is from August.

  • The caption noted, "Day 60 of big sale 2025. Agarwal saree" (sic.)

  • We went through the page and found more such videos listed in the grid showing the sale day as stated in the caption, previously.

  • The Quint reached out to Madhusudan Agarwal, the owner of the shop who refuted the claim that the video was from Bihar.

  • He also mentioned that their shop was located in Maldas Street, Udaipur, and the clip was from a sale day at their establishment.

  • We looked for the shop on Google maps and found the store. You can view the location here.
