A video showing DD News journalist Sudhir Chaudhary talking about a 'shocking' new "cure for diabetes" is being shared on social media, in which he says that a 67-year-old man from Jaipur was able to reverse his diabetes "without medication and without going to the gym" by using baking soda.

But...?: The information in the video is false. It has been manipulated using Artificial Intelligence (AI).

How do we know?: First, we looked up 'Sudhir Chaudhary diabetes cure' on Google to look for any videos carrying the information mentioned in the video.

  • While we came across several videos of Chaudhary discussing diabetes, none of them carried the clip from the video in the claim.

  • We also noticed that the "67-year-old man from Jaipur" that the video referred to was, in reality, Samajwadi Party leader Awadhesh Prasad.

  • A similar search for Prasad's statement on diabetes yielded no relevant results.

  • However, a reverse image search on Prasad's visuals led us to a post shared by news agency ANI shared on X, where he spoke about the Pahalgam terror attack, expressing his support for the government's decisions and response.

We also looked for credible scientific papers about baking soda helping treat or 'cure' diabetes, but did not find any peer-reviewed studies confirming the same.

Is it AI?: We ran segments of the viral video featuring Chaudhary and the unidentified woman through Hive Moderation's AI-generated content detection tool to see if they had been altered using AI.

  • For Chaudhary's section, their tool showed 99.9 percent certainty that the audio element of the clip was created using AI.

The audio in Chaudhary's section was created using AI.

  • Similarly, the tool showed 99 percent confidence that the audio was AI-generated when we ran the same check on the clip carrying the woman's statement.

This part, too, carried AI-generated audio.

Conclusion: A video carrying AI-generated audio is being shared to falsely claim that it shows a news report about a man whose diabetes was cured using baking soda.
