The above post had garnered over 2.5 thousand likes on the platform. (Archives of similar claims can be found here, here, and here.)

Is this claim true?: No. The video could be traced back to November 2023, and showed people bursting crackers in Maharashtra's Malegaon during the screening of actor Salman Khan-starrer Tiger 3.

How did we find that out?: A simple reverse image search using the help of Google Lens directed us to similar visuals published by an X (formerly Twitter) premium handle named 'Gagandeep Singh'.

  • The video was posted on 13 November 2023 and its caption said, "Fans of Salman Khan from the city in Nashik district burst firecrackers inside a cinema hall during the screening of Salman Khan’s show, ‘Tiger 3,’ at the Malegaon Theatre. #Tiger3Diwali2023 #SalmanKhan #Tiger3."

News reports: We performed a keyword search on YouTube and found the same visuals uploaded on the official channel of NDTV.

  • It was published on 13 November 2023 and its title said, "Crackers Go Off In Maharashtra Cinema During 'Tiger 3' Night Show."

  • The video's description identified the location as Mohan cinema in Malegaon, Maharashtra. The incident happened at around 9:30 pm show on 13 November 2023, which led to a stampede-like situation.

  • A report published in Times of India said that theatre owner Rakesh Pandey had lodged a police complaint following the incident.

  • The First Information Report (FIR) was filed under different sections, including 285 (endangering lives with explosives) of the Indian Penal Code.

Recurring theme: Team WebQoof had previously debunked the same clip, when it falsely was linked to actor Vijay's then released film GOAT. You can read our fact-check here.

The report was published on 11 September.

Conclusion: The video is old and is being falsely linked to recently released film Pushpa 2: The Rule.
