Old, Unrelated Clip Viral as Visuals of Flamingo in Maharashtra’s Navi Mumbai

A video which shows a huge group of flamingos (flamboyance) on a water body is going viral on social media platforms as recent visuals from Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra.

What have users said?: Those sharing the clip have said, "Entry into Navi Mumbai. The winter guests have arrived on time!."

What's the truth?: The viral claim is false. The video could be traced back to at least December 2023 and shows visuals from Kazakhstan's Mangystau Region .

How did we find that out?: On performing a reverse image search on the keyframes of the viral clip using Google Lens, we found the same visuals uploaded on a verified Instagram handle called 'ladakz'.

  • The video was published on 9 December 2023 and its caption said, "Aktau blogger Azamat Sarsenbayev @azamat_sarsenbayev filmed almost ten and a half thousand herd on Lake Karakol."

  • On going through the tagged account in the caption of the above post, we found that the video was posted on 8 December 2023.

  • The user was identified as one Azamat Sarsenbayev.

  • The post's caption said, "Mangystau Region. This year, the flamingos are a little late in flight, I have never seen them staying with us until December, with such a huge number."

What did the creator say?: Team WebQoof reached out to the creator, who confirmed that the video was shot on 8 December 2023. He confirmed that the video was captured in Mangystau Region in the Aktau city.

  • Sarsenbayev shared newer visuals with us from the same location as well.

Conclusion: It is clear that the video is old and unrelated to Navi Mumbai.
