An image carrying former Pakistan's President Pervez Musharraf's image is attributing a quote to him about India.
It states, "Biggest strength of Pakistan is Indian Muslims, not the nuclear bombs. They are converting India into an Islamic nation by population explosion. India can repeal article 370 from Kashmir, India can build Ram Temple, India can win war against Pakistan, but India cannot prevent itself from becoming an Islamic nation”.
Users sharing this claim are linking it to the Pahalgam terror attack.
How did we find out the truth?: We performed a relevant keyword search on Google but did not come across any credible reports, old or new, which mentioned that Musharraf made these remarks.
Next, we looked for articles about this in Pakistani media, however, found none.
We also checked excerpts from Musharraf's book 'In the Line of Fire: A Memoir' published in 2008 and did not find any mentions of him calling or hoping for India to 'transform into an Islamic state'.
Conclusion: A fake quote about India getting "converted into an Islamic state" is going viral online, where users are falsely attributing it to Pervez Musharraf.
