A video of Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Ravinder Singh Negi from Delhi's Patparganj seat has gone viral on social media platforms.
In the clip, Negi was seen asking shopkeepers to display their names in front of their shops, or else they could be seized.
The claim: Those sharing have claimed that the MLA warned business owners to display their names in front of their shops, following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, which resulted in the death of 26 individuals on 22 April.
The Quint reported on this incident extensively on 18 December 2024 as well.
Negi told The Quint in December that he did these exercises as a part of the "Jan Jagrukta Abhiyan." He noted that the checking took place on the basis of the complaints received in the area and not any government order.
Similarly, we went through Negi's social media pages and did not find any such videos or incidents linked to the recent violence in Pahalgam.
The MLA had posted a video about condemning the terror attack on 24 April. Here is the link to the video.
Team WebQoof had reported on this video in February when it was being shared with a different claim. You can read the story here.
Conclusion: An old video from December 2024 of Negi has gone viral with the false claim that the incident took place following the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam.
