A video showing several blast and firing in a mountain range covered with trees is going viral on social media as a recent clip.

Several social media users including an X (formerly Twitter) 'Baba Banaras', who often shares misinformation, also shared this clip and claimed that Indian Army's Sikh Regiment soldiers are attacking Line of Control after ceasefire violations have been going for the last few days.

How did we find out the truth?: We performed a reverse image search on some of the keyframes of the viral video which led us to a Facebook post shared on 17 October 2021.

  • This was shared by a page 'Garhwal Rifles Bharti News' but it did not specify any information about location or extra context.

More context: Ceasefire violations by Pakistan troops continued along the LoC for the fifth night in a row, following the Pahalgam terror attack.

  • According to officials and reports, Pakistan Army on Monday night resorted to unprovoked small arms firing at multiple locations along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir, to which the Indian Army responded in a measured and effective manner.

  • These incidents were reported at the Kupwara and Baramulla districts, and Akhnoor sector.

Conclusion: Although we could not independently verify the location of the video, it is clear it is not recent and does not show Indian army retaliating forces at LoC after the recent Pahalgam attack.
