An old and unrelated video of Kalyan Banerjee's jibe at BJP is being falsely linked to Rafale jets and Operation Sindoor.

A video showing Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Kalyan Banerjee presenting during a parliamentary session is going viral online.

The claim states that it shows the opposition leaders mocking Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for an alleged failed attempt at Rafale jets' use during Operation Sindoor.

What's the truth?: This video dates back to July 2024 and is Rafale jets were not being discussed during this session.

  • He was actually mocking Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) slogan about securing 400 seats 2024 general election.

How did we find out the truth?: We performed a reverse image search on some of the keyframes of the viral video which led us to an extended version of this clip.

  • It was shared by NDTV Profit India on 2 July 2024 and the title stated, "TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee’s Hilarious Swipe At NDA’s ‘400 Paar Target".

We also found a report shared by Hindustan Times on 2 July 2024 about the same instance.

It also adds that Banerjee said, “They (BJP) played the game with ‘abki Paar 400 paar.’ There are many games, and chu-kit-kit is one of them."
