An old video from Florida is being shared to falsely claim that it shows scenes of chaos at Israel's Tel Aviv airport.

A video showing chaos as people run across an indoor space has gone viral on social media, where users have claimed that it shows visuals from Israel's Tel Aviv airport.

The claim: Some of the users sharing this video have claimed that it shows Israelis running from Iranian strikes amid the ongoing conflict between the two countries.

Is it true?: No, the video dates back to February 2025 and shows people in Florida, USA.

How did we find out the truth?: Using Google Lens, we ran a reverse image search on the video.

  • This led us to an Instagram post, shared on 23 February 2025, months before the current conflict between Israel and Iran began.

  • The post carried text which said that people were running in a place called the Florida Mall in Orlando, USA "for no reason."

  • However, comments under the video noted that people had started running after hearing a gunshot, with one saying that it happened because "someone shot themselves by accident."

The video shows people running in a mall in Florida in February 2025.

  • We ran a relevant keyword search using the hints in this post, which showed us a news report published on WKMG News 6 ClickOrlando's verified YouTube channel.

  • Sharing the same visuals, the report mentioned that people had panicked after a man accidentally shot himself inside Orlando's Florida Mall.

  • The man was the only injured person in the accident and was expected to be okay. He was reportedly "adjusting his gun when it went off."

  • The incident was also reported on by Fox News, ABC Action News, and Times Now.

  • Shortly after the incident, the local police shared a post on X, stating that reports of a shooting at the Florida Mall were "unfounded" and that there was "an accident discharge of a firearm."

  • The police, too, stated that the man was the only person injured in this accident.

We looked for visuals of The Florida Mall on Google Maps and saw that the place in the video was indeed the same mall.
