IDF Shares Old Video of Drone Attack & Falsely Links it to Iran-Israel Conflict

An old video is being shared to claim that it shows the recent drone attacks in Israel by Iran.

A video showing a drone attack over a residential area is going viral on social media to claim that it shows the recent attacks by Iran in Israel.

• Along with social media users, the official account of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) also shared a compilation of videos which also carried this clip.

What's the truth?: The first clip from this video compilation is from 2024.

How did we find out the truth?: We performed a reverse image search on some of the keyframes of the viral video which led us to a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on 10 November 2024.

The post carried the same video but it did not mention any location.

We found another Facebook post which carried the same video and this was shared on 2 October 2024.

This post is from 2 October 2024.

We could not independently verify the location and context behind this viral clip but it clear that it not related to the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict.

Conclusion: An old video is being shared to claim that it shows the recent drone attacks in Israel by Iran.
