A video of launched missiles falling on the ground is being shared on the internet with a claim that it shows massive destruction by the Indian armed forces near Lahore amid the Operation Sindoor.
What did the viral post say?: An X (formerly Twitter) premium subscriber shared the video with a caption saying, "Lahore has become a graveyard. Massive Destruction by Indian Armed Forces near Lahore."
Is this claim true?: No, the video could be traced back to October 2024 and has no relation to the recent Operation Sindoor.
What led us to the truth?: On conducting a reverse image search on the keyframes of the viral clip, we came across the same visuals published on an X handle named '@Tammuz_Intel'.
It was posted on 1 October 2024 and its caption said, "Impacts on Negev. #Israel."
We performed another round of reverse image and found the same video uploaded on an X account called '@PressTV'.
The post shared on 2 October 2024 carried a caption that said, "Footage shows Iran's retaliatory missiles successfully destroying their targets inside the Israeli occupied Palestine."
Reports of Iran's missile attack on Israel: A news report in Al Jazeera mentioned that Iran had said that it fired over dozens of ballistic missile at security and military targets in Israel.
The launching of missiles reportedly came in response to the assassinations of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commander Abbas Nilforoushan and some Hamas leaders.
The report was published on 1 October 2024.
