Op Sindoor: Old, Unrelated Clip Viral as India's Iron Dome Activated In Amritsar

This video dates back to 2024 and shows Hezbollah's attack into Northern Israel.

A video showing several lightning shots in the sky is being shared to claim that it depicts the Indian Iron Dome or the Indian Air Force's highly sophisticated S-400, which has been activated in Amritsar amid the retaliation from Pakistan following Operation Sindoor.

Is the claim true?: No, the claim is false.

  • The video is old from August 2024 and shows Hezbollah launching rockets in Israeli communities.

What we found: At first, we ran a Google reverse image search on social media platforms and found several posts from August 2024.

  • A post on X by Israel's official account from 4 August 2024 noted, "In northern Israel: a barrage of Hezbollah rockets fired at Israeli communities. We will not allow Hezbollah, Hamas or any other Iranian proxy to harm the people of Israel." (sic.)

  • Similarly, another post on X by Indian journalist Ashutosh Mishra carried the same video and noted that Northern Israel faced heavy incoming rockets from Iran-backed Hezbollah group, as well.

  • Another post on Instagram from August 2024 also mentioned that the video showed Hezbollah strikes into Israel.

  • It noted that no physical injuries had been reported and Israel’s air defence system, Iron Dome, intercepted most of the rockets that we shot by the Hezbollah.

News reports: As per a report by The Hindu from 4 August 2024, Hezbollah announced that it had fired numerous Katyusha rockets at Israel. The group took this action to claim in solidarity with the Palestinian people. This attack happened on 3 August 2024.

  • The Iran-backed group supported declared that its most recent strike on Beit Hillel in northern Israel was a reaction to Israel's assaults on Kfar Kela and Deir Sirianee in Lebanon, claiming that these actions had harmed civilians.

  • Similarly, the Times of Israel also reported about this attack.
