A video of a woman issuing an open challenge inside a wrestling ring is being shared to claim that it shows an Indian woman recently accepting an open challenge from a Pakistani female wrestler in Dubai.

What did the viral post say?: An X (formerly Twitter) premium user named 'PoornimaNimo' shared the clip with a caption mentioning that an Indian girl named 'Kavita Vijayalakshmi' defeated a Pakistani wrestler after she won the final of the women's wrestling championship in Dubai and insulted all Indians.

An archive of the post can be found here.

The above post had gained over two lakh views on the platform. More archives of similar claims can be found here, here, and here.

What are the facts?: Neither are these claims true nor is this video recent. It actually dates back to June 2016 and shows two Indian wrestlers clashing during a wrestling entertainment program.

How did we find that out?: We noticed "CWE" written on the posters seen in the background. Using this as a hint, we conducted a keyword search on YouTube and found a verified channel with the same name.

  • The video was shared on 13 June 2016 with a title that said, "‎KAVITA‬ accepted the open challenge of BB Bull Bull."

  • It showed the wrestler dressed in blue issuing an opening challenge, which is then answered by a woman named Kavita.

News reports: A report published by The News Minute said that Kavita, a former Haryana police officer and MMA champion, accepted the open challenge of BB Bull Bull.

  • The visuals were captured at an event held by Continental Wrestling Entertainment (CWE), a training school in Jalandhar.

The report was published on 18 June 2016.

About BB Bull Bull: Team WebQoof found an interview of the wrestler on a verified YouTube channel called '101 India', where it was revealed that her real name as Sarabjit Kaur.

  • She mentioned that she did her wrestling training from Punjab's Jalandhar.

A recurring theme: We had previously debunked the same video in August 2022, when it was shared with a similar claim. You can read our older fact-check story here.

The report was last updated on 25 August 2022.

Conclusion: It is evident that the video is old and is being shared with a false claim.
