The clip is viral on Facebook and X.

(Archived versions of more posts sharing this video can be seen here, here, here, and here.)

But...?: The clip was made using Artificial Intelligence (AI).

How do we know?: When we watched the clip, we noticed that the words being spoken in the video did not sound like any existing language.

  • Additionally, the text on the kangaroo's harness and boarding pass were blurred and nonsensical, which is a tell-tale sign of a visual being AI-generated.

The text visible in the video was all gibberish.

  • When we ran a reverse image search on the clip, we found that the video was first shared by an Instagram account named 'Infinite Unreality', which had shared it with an 'AI Info' tag.

  • This tag indicates that the content shared was created or manipulated using AI.

The video had an 'AI Info' label.

We also submitted the video the Bengaluru-based startup Contrails.ai's AI generated content detection tool and will add the findings of their analysis when it is complete.
