  • Severe flooding at Dubai International Airport created “very challenging conditions,” forcing authorities to cancel around 300 flights and delay hundreds more.

  • Passengers were urged to avoid the airport unless they had confirmed flight information, particularly at Terminal 1, as many areas remained inundated.

  • Emirates, the flagship carrier based in Dubai, suspended check-ins for departing passengers, adding to the travel disruption at one of the world’s busiest air hubs.

  • Travellers had been advised to monitor airline updates closely, while emergency services continued working to manage the flooding and mitigate its impact on infrastructure and transport, reported the BBC on 18 April 2024.

  • As per Reuters, the rains were the most intense in the nation's 75-year history, impacting life across the United Arab Emirates.
