A video where a person could be heard talking about a new scheme called 'PM Kardata Kalyan Yojana' being implemented from 1 April is going viral on social media platforms.

What about the scheme?: The person mentioned that tax payers will receive different kinds of cards like silver, gold, and platinum based on the tax they pay in a financial year. He further said that incentives like travel benefits could be availed under this scheme.

What are the facts?: The video is actually an April Fools' Day prank and does not share information about a real scheme implemented by the government.

  • Additionally, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) fact-checking wing clarified that there is no such scheme.

Hints in the video: On going through the entire clip, we noticed that it carried a text on the top-right side on a keyframe that said "happy april fools day."

  • Towards the end of the video, we found that a document outlining the scheme carried text saying "Posted On: April Fools Day by LLA".

Finding the original post: We noticed that the viral clip had a watermark that said "Labour Law Advisor". On searching for it on Google, we found an Instagram handle with the same name.

  • The video was originally posted on 1 April.

  • Its caption indicated that the viral clip was actually a prank.

What did PIB say?: The fact-checking wing of PIB took to X to clarify that the claim is fake and said that no such scheme called "PM Kardata Kalyan Yojana" exists. The post was shared on 5 April.

Conclusion: It is evident that the video was shared as a prank and no such scheme named 'PM Kardata Kalyan Yojana' exists.
