The original footage was manipulated with synthetic audio to fabricate the video.
The original clip was an interview of Murthy with CNBC-TV 18 which took place in 2023.
What we found: At first, we noticed some inconsistencies with the lip movement in the video which hinted that the video could be manipulated.
Hence, we ran a search on artificial intelligence detection website, Hive Moderation and found that the audio in the clip was 99 percent generated using AI.

A report by the Deepfakes Analysis Unit (DAU) noted that the original video was manipulated with synthetic audio to fabricate the video. This was concluded with the help of several experts and AI-detection tools.
The original video dated back to January 2023 which was an interview of Murthy with CNBC-TV 18. Her outfit matched with the one in the viral clip.
The interview was not about financial investment but about Murthy's advice to the female workforce and women in business and leadership positions.
The viral clip has been mirrored, hence, the microphone identity looks different.
Conclusion: A video of Murthy from 2023 has been manipulated to add a fabricated audio made using AI is being shared on social media platforms.
