Following the knife attack on actor Saif Ali Khan in his Mumbai home by an intruder, three images showing him in a hospital bed with actor Salman Khan sitting next to him are being shared to claim that it shows the latter visiting him at the hospital.

• These images are created using artificial intelligence (AI).

What we found: At first, we noticed some discrepancies with some images. The area around Salman Khan's eye looked distorted and one of his fingers were missing.

• We, also, noticed a small, blurry logo of Grok AI, a generative AI chatbot, in its bottom right corner.

• We, then, ran the image on AI-detection websites such as Hive Moderation and Sightengine. Following are the results:

• Hive Moderation declared all three as AI-generated.

Attack on Saif Ali Khan: Khan was discharged from Lilavati Hospital on Tuesday, 21 January, where he underwent surgery after being grievously injured by an intruder at his Bandra home on 16 January. 

• Mumbai police arrested the prime accused in the case on19 January, three days after the attack, and identified the accused as 30-year-old Mohammad Shariful Islam alias Vijay Das.

Conclusion: These three AI-generated images of Salman Khan visiting Saif Ali Khan in the hospital have gone viral as real on social media.
