On Tuesday (21 January), Saif Ali Khan met the auto driver, Bhajan Singh Rana, who drove him to Lilavati Hospital in the early hours of 16 January when the actor was stabbed by an intruder at his Bandra residence. Pictures of the interaction have surfaced on social media.
After meeting the actor, Rana told IANS, "They gave a time of 3:30 PM, I said okay, and I will reach. I was a little late, about 4-5 minutes, and then we met. As we were moving around inside, his family was there too. They were all worried, but everything went well. His mother and children were there, and I was treated with respect.. I was invited today, which felt really good. There was nothing special, it was just a normal meeting.”
“I told him, 'Just get well soon, I had prayed for you earlier, and I will continue to pray..." he added.
Speaking to the media on Friday (17 January), Rana had said, “I usually drive at night and I was looking for passengers. I saw someone hailing a rickshaw and a woman came running out of the gate and asked me to take a U-turn and park by the gate because someone was injured. I saw a few people step out and I saw a man in bloodied clothes.”
The injured man got into his auto with another person, believed to be a staff member, and a child, Rana said, adding that he didn’t recognise Khan at first but noticed injuries to his neck and back, “It was only when we reached the hospital that he introduced himself as Saif Ali Khan to the guard, asking them to call the staff.”
The Mumbai police reportedly reached Khan’s residence on Tuesday to record his statement. The primacy accused in the case was arrested in Thane on Sunday and a Mumbai court granted the cops 5-day custody.
