A video compilation showing people celebrating in different areas is going viral on social media platforms with users linking it to Indian cricket team's 2025 ICC Champions Trophy victory.
What did the viral post say?: Those sharing the clip with a caption that said, "Afghans celebrated Indian victory in Champions Trophy yesterday. One of the best & most trustable Indian friends, thank u (sic)."

What are the facts?: The video could be traced back to February of this year, which predates India's victory over New Zealand in the finals of 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
How did we find that out?: On performing a reverse image search on the keyframes of the viral clip using the help of Google Lens, we found the same visuals uploaded on Instagram handle named 'wata_nem'.
It was posted on 28 February, which carried hashtags like #afghanistan and #cricket.
We also noticed a watermark at the bottom of the clip that said "zekria.zeer'.
Other sources: We searched for the Instagram handle and found the same visuals published on it on 27 February.
Its caption said, "A historic win for Afghanistan. Their first-ever victory in Champions Trophy history will be forever remembered in the cricket record books."
Team WebQoof looked closely at a keyframe and found that the band at the bottom of the television carried text saying 'England' and 'Afghanistan'.
This indicated that the celebration was after Afghanistan scored a win over England in the tournament.
A keyframe showed England cricket team players on the screen.

Conclusion: It is clear that the video is old and does not show people in Afghanistan celebrating India clinching the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
