Violence broke out in Madhya Pradesh’s Shajapur after stones were pelted during an event on Maharana Pratap Jayanti on Saturday, 16 June, reported ANI. The incident took place at the Nayi Sadak area in Shajapur.

Shajapur SP Shailendra Chouhan told ANI that situation is under control now and further investigation is underway.

Police forces had been deployed in the area after vehicles and shops were set ablaze. In an effort to maintain law and order, Section 144 has been imposed at the spot. This prohibits more than four people to assemble in the area.
Vehicles and shops have been burnt.

PTI reported that according to eyewitnesses, the trouble began on the afternoon of Saturday, when some people started hurling stones on the procession, which was passing through the Nayi Sadak area. They also torched several vehicles and vandalised an electronic goods store.

The SDO added that strict vigil was being maintained in the area.
