After missing out on the CM’s chair, it’s going to be a tough time for AIADMK Chief VK Sasikala in jail. She has been convicted in a case of disproportionate assets along with her sister-in-law Elavarasi, and did not have a good ‘second’ start in the jail.

Let’s rewind things a little. Sasikala was convicted with her mentor J Jayalalithaa and two others in 2014. She even spent 21 days in jail with Jayalalithaa with VIP privileges.

But this time around, Sasikala’s request for a class A accommodation was shot down by the jail authorities. However, she was allowed to choose her shared cell of 10 feet by 8 feet, with a bathroom. Along with this, she has been given a blanket, a fan, a pillow and a cot after her doctor’s advice.

Huffington Post reported that Sasikala was also denied home-cooked food and that left her with the food served to all prisoners, which she refused to eat. But Sasikala was seen following a routine on her second day, as she woke up early, walked, did Yoga and read the paper. Post which, she was forced to gulp down tamarind rice for breakfast.

She even refused to wear the white sari provided by the jail authorities because she did not have a a matching blouse with it. Moreover, she is sharing her cell wall with a Jaya fan. Cyanide Mallika (the only person who tried saying hello to her), convicted for poisoning women, is now Sasikala’s neighbour in jail, reported Huffington Post.

So far Sasikala has refused meeting any of her AIADMK workers. Apart from a conversation here and there with her sister-in-law, she hasn’t spoken much either.
