Congress on Friday claimed that the district administration has denied permission for party vice president Rahul Gandhi’s 11 September roadshow in Mau, Uttar Pradesh.

The district administration has denied permission for the roadshow in the city area, senior Congress leader Raj Kumar Rai said.

Officials have cited security concerns for denying permission, he said, adding SPG and others were still in contact with the authorities for the same.

He alleged that the administration has taken this step under pressure from the state government. Meanwhile, Congress workers held a protest at the Collectorate alleging discrimination and demanding their leader’s roadshow be allowed as per schedule.
