An FIR has been registered against BJP MP Pralhad Joshi on Saturday for ‘comparing Sadarsofa in Hubli, Karnataka to Pakistan’ in his speech in the district, Financial Express reported.

Joshi’s remarks angered a group of Muslims who staged a protest on Friday.

According to Financial Express, office bearers of Masjid Jamat in Saidar street alleged that Joshi said many mosques have weapons stored illegally during a visit to Gurusiddappa Ambiger’s residence on Thursday. The reason they gave was that statements like these can spread hate in society.

Joshi has been booked under sections 153 A (promoting enmity between religious groups) and 298 (uttering words with deliberate intent to wound the religious feelings of any person) of the IPC including other sections.

This is the third time Joshi is in news, after correcting BJP President Amit Shah’s words when he mistook Yeddyurappa, their own CM candidate, for Siddaramaiah and said, “if there were ever to be a contest for corruption, the Yeddyurappa government would get the first prize.”

Similarly, while translating Amit Shah’s speech against Siddaramaiah for not doing anything for the SC and ST communities in the state, Joshi mistook PM Modi for Siddaramaiah and said that “Narendra Modi had done nothing for the SC/ ST community.”
