TMC MP Shantanu Sen, who had snatched papers from IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw's hands on Thursday, was suspended from Rajya Sabha for the entire Monsoon Session on Friday, 23 July.

Meanwhile, the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha were adjourned till Monday, 26 July amid uproar and ruckus by the Opposition over reports of snooping using the Pegasus spyware.

The Rajya Sabha was adjourned till 11 am on 26 July amid ruckus over Pegasus reports.

RS Dy Chairperson Requests TMC MP to Leave House

Deputy Chairperson of Rajya Sabha Harivansh Singh requested TMC MP Santanu Sen to leave House after suspension.

"As you know that a resolution has been passed to suspend you from attending the proceedings till the end of the Monsoon session, we request you to leave the House," he said.

Rs 9725 Cr Sepent on COVID Vaccination Drive: Centre Tells LS

A total of Rs 9725.15 crore have been spent so far on the COVID-19 vaccination programme including procurement of vaccines and operational cost for vaccination, Dr Bharati Pravin Pawar, MoS (Health) informed the Lok Sabha.

A total of 135 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccine are expected to be available between August 2021 to December 2021, she added.

Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh requests TMC MP Santanu Sen to withdraw from the House as he has been suspended.

A Motion has been moved and approved in this regard. The House is adjourned till 12.30 pm.

Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya urged against politicising the COVID-19 vacccination programme.

"The Prime Minister several times asked not to politicise the vaccination programme. It's our aim to vaccinate every citizen above18 years of age. This is not the time to do politics," he said.

Deeply Distressed:Naidu on Ruckus in Parliament

Addressing The House, Vice President and Rajya Sabha chairman M Venkaiah Naidu slammed the repeated ruckus in the Parliament.

"I'm deeply distressed by the course of events in House. Unfortunately, proceedings of the House hit a new low with papers being snatched from the Minister and torn into pieces. Such actions are clear assault on our Parliamentary democracy," he said.

"In the meeting chaired on 17 July, all sections of this House expressed a keen desire to have a productive session and even sought each other’s cooperation in this regard. Happy over such noble intentions, I have urged the leaders to ‘walk their talk’ by enabling smooth functioning of the House. But the course of events over the last few days brought out the gap between noble intentions and real actions. It is despairing," he added.

Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw slammed TMC MP Santanu Sen for snatching papers from his hand on Thursday in the Rajya Sabha.
