LS, RS Adjourned

Lok Sabha adjourned for the day after protests by AIADMK members against Karti Chidambaram. Rajya Sabha was also adjourned till tomorrow.

Privilege Motions in LS

1. Breach of Privilege Motion filed against Smriti Irani. Congress MP KC Venugopal, who filed the petition, cited five reasons to back his contention.
2. Breach of Privilege Motion filed against MP Bandaru Dattatreya over a letter he sent to the Ministry of Human Resource Development, in which he allegedly mentioned Rohith Vemula. He has since denied the claim; saying that Jyotiraditya Scindia has ‘tarnished’ his image.


LS, RS Adjourned

Both Houses of the parliament have been adjourned till 12 noon.

MoS Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, On Pathankot

Kiren Rijiju has confirmed that Pakistan will send a team to Pathankot, but that they haven’t given a date or specified the size of such a team. Rijiju said that they were awaiting details.

Opposition to Raise Katheria’s Speech in LS

The Opposition will raise Ram Shankar Katheria’s hate-speech in the Lok Sabha today. Katheria, on his part has said that he was “being framed” and that he never incited a mob or spoke “against any religion.”

BJP MPs Attend Parliamentary Party Meeting

BJP MPs are attending a parliamentary party meeting today, convened a day after Finance Minister presented the Union Budget in the Lok Sabha, on Monday.

The meeting, which began around 9.30 am, will be attended by all BJP MPs, including the Prime Minister. Lawmakers are expected to discuss strategies to counter the Opposition’s attack on various issues.

The BJP said that the Union Budget was “visionary and progressive”, and that it gives priority to farmers and weaker sections, and will lead to empowerment of the youth.
