'Multiple Fatalities' in Milwaukee Beer Company Shooting

Several people were killed Wednesday, 26 February when a sacked former employee opened fire at the Milwaukee campus of brewing giant Molson Coors, with reports of up to six dead in addition to the shooter.

"There are multiple fatalities... I believe including the shooter," Milwaukee mayor Tom Barrett told reporters after visiting the scene.

"It's a horrible, horrible day for the employees," he said, urging residents to stay away from the area.

President Donald Trump has said that the US' relationship with India is "extraordinary" right now and a lot of progress was made in bilateral ties during his maiden official visit to the country where America will be doing a lot of business.

Talking to reporters after his return from India on Wednesday, Trump said, "He (Prime Minister Narendra Modi) is a great gentleman, a great leader. It's an incredible country."

Bihar Passes Resolution Favouring Caste-based Census

The Bihar Assembly on Thursday unanimously passed a resolution favouring a caste-based Census in 2021.

Speaker Vijay Kumar Choudhary made the announcement in the Assembly during the pre-lunch session.

Choudhary said Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had made a proposal in the House on Tuesday for passing a resolution in this regard.

Income Tax Dept Conduts Raids in Chhattisgarh

The Income Tax department on Thursday conducted searches at multiple locations linked to Chhattisgarh government officials and others, I-T officials said.

The searches are being conducted to probe charges of alleged tax evasion by these people that includes the family of a senior IAS officer in Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel-led Congress government in the state.

The I-T team are assisted by central paramilitary forces to conduct the raids in Raipur and a few other locations, the officials added.

Raghav Chadha Likely to Be DJB Vice-Chairman

First-time Aam Aadmi Party MLA Raghav Chadha is likely to be the vice-chairman of the Delhi Jal Board, sources said on Thursday.

Chadha is an MLA from Rajendra Nagar. The sources said that an order to this effect will be issued soon.

Burari MLA Sanjeev Jha and Deoli MLA Prakash Jarwal are likely to appointed as DJB members.

Urban Development Minister Satyendar Jain is the chairman of Delhi Jal Board.

NCLAT Sets Asides Insolvency Proceedings Against Flipkart

The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) has set aside the order of the NCLT to initiate insolvency proceedings against e-commerce major Flipkart.

A three-member bench of the NCLAT released Flipkart from the corporate insolvency resolution process and directed the Interim Resolution Professional (IRP) appointed by NCLT to handover the records and assets of the company back to its promoter immediately.

Two High Court Judges Transferred

One judge each from the Bombay and the Karnataka high courts were transferred to other high courts, the Law Ministry has said.

Justice Ranjit Vasantrao More of the Bombay High Court stands transferred to the Meghalaya High Court.

Justice Ravi Vijay Kumar Malimath of the Karnataka High Court has been transferred to the Uttarakhand High Court, according to separate notifications issued on Wednesday.

Army Jawan Dies After Falling Into Gorge in J&K

An army jawan died after he fell into a deep gorge following an avalanche in Gurez sector along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, said the army on Thursday.

"Sepoy Karnail Singh, 22, was deployed on the forward post in Gurez sector. On February 26, owing to sudden snow avalanche, he fell into a deep gorge," an army official said.

He said Singh was rescued and evacuated to 92 Base Hospital in Srinagar, where he succumbed.

The army on Thursday paid tributes to Singh at the Badami Bagh Cantonment.

Modi Holds Talks With Myanmar Prez; India, Myanmar Sign 10 Pacts

India and Myanmar signed on Thursday 10 agreements with a focus on the socio-economic development of the southeast Asian nation as Prime Minister Narendra Modi held wide-ranging talks with Myanmarese President U Win Myint.

The Myanmarese president, who arrived in India on Wednesday, received a ceremonial welcome at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. He and First Lady Daw Cho Cho were welcomed by President Ram Nath Kovind and PM Modi.

The prime minister and President Myint later held talks at Hyderabad House and 10 agreements were signed between the two countries. The focus of many agreements was on development projects under India's assistance, particularly in the conflict-torn Rakhine state.

A British judge on Thursday, 27 February paused Julian Assange's extradition hearing following four days of intense legal wrangling over Washington's request for the WikiLeaks founder to stand trial there on espionage charges.

The full extradition hearing is then set to resume for three weeks in mid-May, when witnesses will be called and cross-examined, with an eventual ruling expected by August at the latest.
