14 killed in Burkina Faso Church Attack: Regional govt

Fourteen people were killed in an attack on a church in eastern Burkina Faso where places of worship have suffered a string of Islamist assaults this year, the regional government said.

"Unidentified armed men" carried out the attack during a Sunday service at a Protestant church in the town of Hantoukoura near the border with Niger, the government statement said.

35-Yr-Old Man Held for Sexually Assaulting 4-Yr-Old Child

A 35-year-old man Jawahar Baburao Vaidya was arrested allegedly for sexually assaulting a 4-year-old girl in Nagpur on 1 December.

A case has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Sweden Royals Arrive in India for 5-Day Visit

King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden arrived in Delhi on Monday on a five-day India visit.

Three emergency workers were killed in a helicopter crash near Marseille while on a rescue mission in flood-hit southern France, the interior ministry said Monday.

Their EC145 helicopter lost radio and radar contact while on a rescue and reconnaissance flight in the Var region Sunday night.

4.5 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Myanmar-India Border Region

An earthquake of magnitude 4.5 on the Richter scale struck the Myanmar-India Border region on Monday, said the India Meteorological Department. The tremors occurred at 06:42 am today, however, no loss of life or property has been reported so far.

3 Dead After Small Plane Crash in San Antonio International Airport, Texas

Officials say three people were killed when a single-engine plane crashed while attempting to land at San Antonio International Airport.

San Antonio Fire Chief Charles Hood says the plane went down around 6:30 pm Sunday in a commercial district about a mile west of the airport. Hood says the plane had taken off from Sugar Land, southwest of Houston, and was headed to Boerne when it experienced engine trouble and diverted to San Antonio.

Charred Bodies of Woman, Child Found Near Raipur

Charred bodies of an unidentified woman and child were recovered in a village near Chhattisgarh capital Raipur on Monday, police said.

The bodies were found in Nakti village under Mana police station limits and the spot also had blood stains, an official said.

"It seems the two were murdered and then the bodies burnt to destroy evidence. There are wounds on the woman's body. We are awaiting the post mortem report. Probe is on to identify them," he added.

Former US president Jimmy Carter has been hospitalized for treatment of a urinary tract infection, the Carter Center said- the latest in a series of health issues for the 95-year-old Democrat.

Carter "was admitted to Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Georgia, this past weekend," his center said in a statement.
