Building Slab Collapses in Maharashtra

A portion of the three-storey residential building collapsed in Maharashtra's Thane district.

No casualty was reported in the incident, he said.

A huge slab of the third floor of Sachdev Apartment building, located in Ulhasnagar township, crashed and fell on the floors below it around 9 pm on Tuesday, regional disaster management cell chief Santosh Kadam told PTI

On getting information, fire brigade and civic officials rushed to the site and rescued all those residing in the ill-fated structure, he said.

Delhi HC Gives Vadra Four Weeks to File Rejoinder in Money Laundering Case

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday gave businessman Robert Vadra four weeks to file a rejoinder to the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) reply to his petition seeking quashing of certain provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

A bench of Justices Manmohan and Sangita Dhingra Sehgal listed the matter for further hearing on 18 November.

Senior advocate KTS Tulsi, representing Vadra, the husband of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, had sought some time to file the rejoinder to ED's reply and said the documents were almost ready.

Dalits Protest Temple Demolition in Delhi

The stretch between Jhandewalan and Ramlila Maidan turned into a sea of blue as thousands of Dalits from different parts of the country took to the streets on Wednesday to protest against the recent demolition of a Ravidas Mandir in the city.

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) had demolished the temple on August 10 on the orders of the Supreme Court.

The protesters also asked the central government to rebuild the temple.

Three Air Force personnel were killed and three others injured when a truck carrying them fell into a gorge in Rajasthan's Barmer district on Wednesday, police said.

Two of the injured are in a critical condition, they said.  Barmer District Superintendent of Police Shivraj Meena said the truck carrying eight soldiers was coming from an Air Force station in Chauhatan town when it lost balance and fell into a gorge.

He said a police team rushed the injured to a hospital in Chauhatan from where two jawans were referred to Barmer.

Indian Student Drowns in US Lake After Jumping off a Cliff

A 27-year-old Indian student has drowned after jumping off from a recreation spot into the Crater Lake in the US state of Oregon, authorities said.

Sumedh Mannar, jumped off the "Jumping Rock", a popular recreation spot at the lake on Sunday around 4:40 pm (local time) and did not resurface, Marsha McCabe, a spokeswoman for Crater Lake National Park, was quoted as saying by the Oregonian newspaper.

McCabe said the cliff Mannar, a graduate student at the Oregon State University, had jumped from was about 25 feet high.

Terror-Funding: Court Sends Ex-J&K MLA Rashid Engineer to Judicial Custody

A Delhi court Wednesday sent former independent MLA in Jammu and Kashmir, Sheikh Abdul Rashid to judicial custody in a case related to funding of terror activities in the Valley.

Popularly known as Rashid Engineer, he was a legislator from the Langate Assembly seat in north Kashmir and is the first mainstream politician to have been arrested by the NIA in the case.

District Judge Yashwant Kumar sent Rashid to the custody for two weeks after the NIA produced him before the court on expiry of his custodial interrogation.

India, Zambia Sign 6 Pacts; Strengthen Cooperation in Defence, Mineral Resources

India and Zambia signed on Wednesday six agreements in key sectors such as mineral resources and defence after Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Zambian President Edgar Chagwa Lungu held wide-ranging talks to strengthen ties.

The two leaders also deliberated upon enhancing trade and investment, as well as deepening development cooperation.

Prime Minister Modi, at a joint press statement with President Lungu, said as a reliable partner in development cooperation, India has been sharing its developmental experiences with Zambia.

Unnao Case: Delhi Court Dismisses Plea for Addition of Charges Against MLA

A Delhi court on Wednesday dismissed a plea for addition of charges in the Unnao rape case against expelled BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, who has been accused of sexually assaulting a minor in 2017.

The rape survivor's mother had sought that fresh charges under sections 376(2)(f) and (k) (penetrative sexual assault by a person in a position of trust and control over the woman) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) be invoked against the accused.

Iraq Probe: Drone Strike Caused Explosion at Baghdad Base

A drone strike caused a massive explosion last week at a munitions depot run by an Iranian-backed militia near Iraq's capital, Baghdad, according to an Iraqi government report obtained Wednesday.

The document shows that a government investigation concluded a drone had set off the blast.

The finding deepens the question of who is behind a string of at least three mysterious explosions that have hit militia bases in Iraq over the past month.

The Union Labour Ministry plans to set up its office in Jammu-Kashmir to serve Jammu, Kashmir, Leh and Ladakh regions, Labour and Employment Minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar said on Wednedsay.

Speaking to reporters here, the union minister said it was not there earlier in Jammu, Kashmir, Leh and Ladakh.

"Now, we will open our office there," he said.

The minister said he sought the cooperation of Union Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy, who was sitting next to him, in the effort.

IAF's Abhinandan Varthaman Starts Flying Mig 21

Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, the IAF pilot who became the face of a tense military confrontation between India and Pakistan in February, has started flying MiG 21 jet again.

Delhi Man Killed as Speeding Cluster Bus Hits His Scooter

A 20-year-old man was killed allegedly after a speeding cluster bus hit his scooter at Shahjahan Road here, police said on Wednesday. Aman Kumar, a resident of Delhi's Khan Market, died in the accident which took place on Monday evening, they said.

The cluster bus was coming from India Gate on the Shahjahan Road when it hit Kumar who was riding the scooter, police said. According to police, Kumar was taken to a nearby hospital by a passerby in a car. Kumar succumbed during treatment, they said.

Trump Slams Danish PM's 'Nasty' Rejection of Greenland Deal

US President Donald Trump snapped back Wednesday at Denmark's premier in a row over his desire to buy Greenland, saying her blunt refusal to consider any negotiation was "nasty."

Speaking after he scrapped plans to visit Copenhagen next month, Trump told reporters he had taken offence at Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen's description of any such deal as "absurd." "It was not a nice way of doing it. She could have just said no, we'd rather not do it," Trump said.

"She's not talking to me, she's talking to the United States of America."
