Boeing Vice President Says 'Sorry' over Crashes

A Boeing executive is apologising to airlines and families of victims of 737 Max crashes in Indonesia and Ethiopia.

Vice President Randy Tinseth told reporters at the Paris Air Show on Monday that “we are very sorry for the loss of lives” in the Lion Air crash in October and Ethiopian Airlines crash in March. A total of 346 people were killed.

Tinseth also said “I’m sorry for the disruption” to airlines from the subsequent grounding of all Max planes worldwide, and to their passengers.

Triple Suicide Bombing in Nigeria Kills 30

Thirty people were killed in a triple suicide bombing attributed to Boko Haram jihadists in northeast Nigeria late on Sunday, emergency services reported.

"The death toll from the attack has so far increased to 30. We have over 40 people injured," Usman Kachalla, head of operations at the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), said on Monday, raising the tally from 17 dead and 17 wounded.

Three bombers detonated their explosives outside a hall in Konduga, 38 kilometres (24 miles) from the Borno state capital Maiduguri, where football fans were watching a match on TV.

3 Workers Killed, 11 Injured as Scaffolding Collapses at Construction Site in Bengaluru

Three labourers were killed and 11 others injured when a scaffolding put up for the construction of two giant water tanks for a sewage treatment plant collapsed in Bengaluru on Monday, the police said.

A total of 20 labourers were engaged in the construction work when the scaffolding for the centering work at one of the tanks came crashing down around noon, they said.

Three workers died in the collapse while 11 injured had been admitted to two hospitals. Six others escaped with minor injuries, police said.

Former Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi died in a Cairo hospital after fainting during a session in court, judicial and security sources said.

“He was speaking before the judge for 20 minutes then became very animated and fainted. He was quickly rushed to the hospital where he later died,” a judicial source said.

The official Al-Ahram news website also reported the death of Morsi (67), who was Egypt's first democratically elected president but spent just one turbulent year in office after the 2011 uprising before the army toppled him in 2013.
