“The Chief Minister is responding well to the treatment and continues to get better,” he added.

He said, meanwhile, “rumours and conjectures” were being circulated falsely in the social media about her health condition stating that she will be taken abroad for treatment.

These are totally false and baseless. There is no question of taking her abroad for treatment. There is no necessity at all for this.

The fever was brought under control the following day after she was admitted, he said.

She was admitted to the hospital on 22 September.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao, DMK leaders M Karunanidhi and MK Stalin and the chief ministers of Karnataka and Puducherry, Siddaramaiah and V Narayanasamy respectively, were among others who wished speedy recovery to Jayalalithaa.
