Uddhav Set to Be Maha CM; NCP May Get 15 Ministers, 12 for Cong
Sena leader Sanjay Raut told the media that Thackeray has consented to become the CM.
The new government in Maharashtra will be formed under the leadership of Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, NCP president Sharad Pawar said on Friday.
Emerging from a marathon meeting of top leaders of the Congress, the NCP and the Sena, who are making efforts to form government in Maharashtra, Pawar said there was a consensus on Thackeray's leadership.
"There is a consensus that leadership of the government will be with Uddhav Thackeray," he told reporters after the meeting.
He said the meeting at Nehru Centre in central Mumbai deliberated extensively on finalising an agenda for governance.
He also said that a press conference will be held on Friday, following which they will decide when to approach the Governor for government formation.
NCP Likely to Get 15 Ministers, 12 Berths for Cong
Meanwhile, sources told The Quint Shiv Sena is likely to get 16 ministerial berths in the state Cabinet, including that of the CM’s post.
NCP and Congress may get 15 and 12 ministers, respectively.
The Home Ministry is likely to be with the NCP, along with PWD and rural development ministries.
The Shiv Sena is likely to keep the ministries of Housing and Urban Development, Agriculture and Education, while the Congress might get Revenue and Power Ministries.
Decisions on the post of Speaker, Deputy Speaker and mayoral positions in important corporations are still being discussed by state leaders, the sources suggested.
