Rain, Thunderstorms Across North India

Showers were reported in parts of the national capital, starting late on 26 June. Parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Rajasthan also witnessed showers, while Himachal Pradesh was hit by rain and thunderstorms, signifying the onset of monsoon, the MeT department told PTI.

Police Officer Killed After Bike Rams into Him

A Head Constable, Rohit Nayar, died after being hit by an unidentified bike-borne man at New Delhi’s Geeta Colony Road on the night of 26 June. Nayar, posted at Sarita Vihar police station, was on his way home after work. The police have registered a case and started a probe.

Thunderstorms Likely in North and West India Ahead of Monsoon

The Indian Meteorological Dept said that north and west India would witness thunderstorms ahead of monsoon, ANI reported. The Met Dept added, “29 June is normal date for onset of monsoon in Delhi. Currently it's progressing in West Bengal, Odisha & Bihar. Till 30 June monsoon will cover all of India except Kutch.”

Vimlendu Jha alleged that despite the Delhi HC order, tree felling was carried out by the NBCC on 26 June at Netaji Nagar.

Army Chief General Bipin Rawat dismissed the UN report on human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmi, calling them “motivated”.

“I don't think we need to speak on the United Nations report on Jammu and Kashmir. Some of these reports are motivated,” Army Chief General Bipin Rawat said to ANI.
