Grenade Attack on CRPF in Tral

Militants hurled a grenade at a security forces' vehicle in Tral area of Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district on Friday. Eight jawans were injured in the attack.

The ultras hurled the grenade in the main Tral chowk this afternoon, a police official told PTI.

Several people were injured in the grenade blast.

Pervez Musharraf Resigns As Chairman of All Pakistan Muslim League

Former Pakistan President General (Retired) Pervez Musharraf has resigned as the chairman of the All Pakistan Muslim League (APML), reported ANI.

Musharraf reportedly sent his resignation letter to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

Dr. Amjad was quoted by the Dawn, as saying that Musharraf had resigned from APML on 18 June in the wake of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) disqualifying him from politics for life.

Teacher held for Allegedly raping Class 4 Student

The Madhya Pradesh police on Friday, 22 June, arrested a teacher for allegedly raping a Class 4 student at a government school in Shahdol's Burhar, reported ANI.

A case has been registered under section 367 of Indian Penal Code and POCSO Act.

Mallikarjun Kharge Appointed Maharashtra Congress Chief

ED Seeks 'Fugitive Offender' Tag for Mallya

India on Friday, 22 June, made its first official move to clampdown against big bank loan defaulters under a new law as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) moved a court against liquor baron Vijay Mallya seeking to declare him a 'fugitive offender' and to confiscate his assets worth Rs 12,500 crore.

Officials said the agency filed an application before a Mumbai court under the recently promulgated Fugitive Economic Offenders Ordinance that empowers it to confiscate all assets of an absconding loan defaulter.

Mallya is contesting these money laundering charges in London as part of India's efforts to extradite him from there and face the legal system here in connection with an overall alleged loan default of over Rs 9,000 crore of various banks.

London Train Station Evacuated After Man Claimed To Have Bomb

British police said on Friday, 22 June, London's Charing Cross rail terminal had been evacuated after reports of man on the tracks claiming to have a bomb.

"The station has been evacuated as a precaution and no services are currently stopping at the station," British Transport Police said on Twitter.

1 Policeman Martyred, 4 Militants Killed in Encounter in Anantnag

Four militants were gunned down and 1 policeman was martyred in an encounter with by security forces in Anantnag's Srigufwara area, on Friday, 22 June, reported ANI. Two civilians were also reported to be injured.

Jammu and Kashmir DGP, while speaking to the media confirmed the developments.

Internet services have also been suspended in Srinagar and Anantnag, reported ANI.

Five Women From an NGO Gangraped in Jharkhand Village

Five women working with a NGO were allegedly raped at gunpoint by a group of at least five men when they had gone to Chochang village in Jharkhand to create awareness on migration and human trafficking.

Initial investigation has found that the people behind 'Pathalgarhi' (a practice in which villagers inscribe various tenets on huge stone slabs and ban outsiders in their area), are behind the incident in Khunti district on Tuesday, 19 June, Deputy Inspector General of Police Amol V Homker said.

According to SP Ashwini Kumar Sinha, a 11-member team of an NGO went to the village to perform a street play on migration and human trafficking. A group of men arrived on the scene and took them to a nearby forests at gunpoint where the crime was perpetuated, police said.

Taliban Militants Kill 30 Afghan Soldiers

Taliban militants killed 30 Afghan soldiers and captured a military base in the western province of Badghis on Wednesday, 20 June, the provincial governor said, their first major attack since a ceasefire for the Eid al-Fitr holiday.

The three-day Taliban ceasefire ended on Sunday.

Provincial governor Abdul Ghafoor Malikzai said the Taliban attacked two security posts in the early hours. Abdul Aziz Bek, head of the Badghis provincial council, said one military base was targeted, in the district of Balamerghab.

Gujarat Woman Accused of Being a 'Witch', Set Ablaze by Relatives

A 42-year-old woman in Arvalli district in the state sustained serious injuries after she was allegedly set on fire by her relatives, who accused her of practising witchcraft

Condemning the incident that took place on Tuesday night, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani announced that the government bear all the medical expenses of the victim.

"The incident took place on the night of June 19 at Ramgadhi village of Meghraj taluka of Arvalli district, where the woman was allegedly set ablaze by three of her relatives, including a woman," Arvalli in-charge Superintendent of Police N M Kanjaria, said.

J&K Cop Injured in Srinagar's Karan Nagar Attacks Dies

Policeman HC Habibullah, who got injured during an attack on a Police party in Srinagar’s Karan Nagar last week, has succumbed to his injuries, reported ANI.

The head constable was severely injured in a militant attack near Dental College in Srinagar.

Two cops and two civilians were injured in the attacks.

A headless body of a 24-year-old was woman found in Lucknow’s BKT police station limits on Thursday, 21 June, reported ANI.

The family of the victim has alleged rape. According to the family, she had gone to relieve herself at around 3 am in the morning. The body has been sent for postmortem and further investigations are underway.

Late Fashion Designer Kate Spade's "Heartbroken" Father Passes Away

The father of fashion designer Kate Spade has died just over two weeks after the suicide of his daughter, the family said on Thursday, 21 June.

Earl F Brosnahan Jr, 89, had been in failing health and he was also "heartbroken over the recent death of his beloved daughter," the Brosnahan family said in a statement.

Brosnahan, known to his family and friends as Frank, died on Wednesday night at his home in Kansas City, Missouri. His family did not specify the cause of death.

Kate Spade, 55, one of his six children, was found in her New York City apartment on 5 June.

President Kovind Arrives in Havana

President Ram Nath Kovind arrived in Havana on Friday, 22 June as a part of his three nation visit to Greece, Suriname and Cuba, reported ANI.

Kovind will also hold talks with Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Friday.

According to India's presidency, the two nations will sign cooperation agreements in biotechnology, traditional medicine, homeopathy and therapeutic plants.

Kovind is also scheduled to deliver a speech at the University of Havana.
