Debt-Collection Agent Shot at in Delhi

A 25-year-old money collection agent was shot at thrice by a customer's son following an argument in Delhi’s Rohini area on Saturday, 20 April, police said.

The incident occurred on Saturday when the man had gone to collect monthly instalment of Rs 1,400 from the customer, whose two sons then got into an argument with him, they said.

UN Peacekeeper Killed in Mine Explosion in Mali

A UN peacekeeper was killed and four others wounded when a mine exploded as their convoy passed through central Mali, the UN mission in Mali said.

The blast hit part of the Egyptian contingent of the UN force close to the Burkina Faso border on Saturday, 20 April, the UN stabilisation mission in Mali (MINUSMA) said.

The peacekeeper killed was Egyptian. One attacker was killed, according to a security source.

Two Killed in Clash Over Alleged Cattle Theft

Two people were killed after a clash allegedly broke out between four alleged cattle thieves and farmers of Greater Noida’s Jarcha area.

Implement Schedule V of Constitution, Demands BTP Chief

Bharatiya Tribal Party chief Chhotu Vasava on Sunday said Schedule V of the Constitution, which allows certain areas with a preponderance of tribal population to be declared as "scheduled areas", should be implemented across the country.

The Health Ministry is grappling with paucity of meningitis vaccines for Haj pilgrims as the only firm manufacturing them was asked to stop production last year after contamination was detected in their oral polio vaccines.

According to sources in the Health Ministry, the only firm which manufactured the vaccines and provided it to the government, was asked to stop production of all human vaccines after type-2 polio virus contamination was detected in oral polio vaccines.

Air India Express Mulls Leasing Some Jet Airways' Boeing 737s

Air India Express, the international budget arm of Air India, is examining the possibility of leasing some Boeing 737 aircraft of grounded carrier Jet Airways, which are parked at different airports due to non-payment, through a firm decision is yet to be taken, a top company official said Sunday.

Before halting operations temporarily mid-last week due to severe cash-drought, the private carrier was forced to ground 69 planes owing to non-payment of rentals to lessors.

Suspected Jihadists Kill 10 Mali Soldiers: Security Source

At least 10 Malian soldiers died Sunday in an attack by suspected jihadists in the centre of the African country, a security source told AFP.

"There are at least 10 dead soliders," the Malian source said.

"Yes our camp at Guire was attacked on Sunday about five in the morning." "The terrorists came out of the forest. They were on motorcycles and pick-up trucks. They burnt vehicles and took away others," said the source, who asked not to be named.

The Mali armed forces confirmed the attack on Twitter and said reinforcements were being sent to the Nara sector, about 370 kilometres (230 miles) north of the capital Bamako.

7 Devotees Killed in Stampede During Temple Ceremony in Tamil Nadu

A stampede during a local temple ceremony killed seven devotees and injured ten others near Thuraiyur, about 45 km from here, on Sunday, police said.

The tragedy occurred when hundreds of people gathered for the 'padikasu' (temple coin) distribution ceremony, held as part of annual 'Chithira Pournami' festival, at the 'Karuppasamy' (a rural deity) temple in Muthiampalayam village.

Policeman Dies in Road Accident in J-K's Baramulla

A policeman died Sunday after his motorcycle was hit by a car in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district, police said.

Shafoor Ajaz Wani was riding a motorcycle when he was hit by a private car at Veerwan in Baramulla, a police spokesman said.

He said Wani was injured in the accident and rushed to a hospital where he succumbed.
