Bombay HC Allows Minor Rape Survivor to Abort Pregnancy

The Bombay High Court on Saturday, 15 September, allowed a minor rape survivor to medically abort her 24 weeks pregnancy, reported ANI.

The minor is also reportedly suffering from cancer. The High Court has asked for a compliance report of this order, which is to be produced before the court on 24 September.

CPEC Against Sovereignty, Integrity: Indian Ambassador

Ambassador Virander Paul, Deputy Permanent Representative of India, said that “no country can accept a project that ignores its core concerns on sovereignty, territorial integrity,” referring to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

He was making an address at the 39th Session of the Human Rights Council.

Karnataka CM H D Kumaraswamy Accuses BJP of Trying to Topple His Government

Accusing the BJP of attempting to topple his government, Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Friday, 14 September, warned of legal action against ‘certain kingpins’ who, he claimed, were trying to bribe Congress and JD(S) MLAs to pull down his ministry, reported PTI.

Amid media reports that certain resorts were ready to host some Congress and JD(S) MLAs in the alleged toppling game following internal dissent in the Congress, Kumaraswamy asserted he was ready to face any challenge to his government.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley Addressed Press Conference

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley addressed the media on India’s current economic condition.

Jaitley said that the prime minister held a meeting on Friday, 14 September, in which the governor and deputy governor of Reserve Bank of India and officials of the finance ministry. In the meeting, the RBI governor gave a detailed presentation about the economic condition of the world and external factors which can affect Indian economy, reported ANI.

He also said that the external factors like policy decisions in the US which have resulted in the outflow of dollars, global crude oil prices and a looming trade war have had an impact on India despite our strong fundamental, reported BloombergQuint.

Former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort has cut a “cooperation agreement” with prosecutors and intends to plead guilty to charges related to his Ukrainian consulting work, reported AP.

The deal allows Manafort to avoid a second trial that had been scheduled to start next week in Washington. Manafort was convicted last month of eight financial crimes in a separate trial in Virginia.

The Kottayam police will register a case against the Missionaries of Jesus for publishing the photo of the victim. The Missionaries of Jesus has published the photograph in their press release on Friday, 14 September, reported ANI.

The police has also directed the local police to register the victims' statement.

Two Killed, 3 Injured in Explosion in Quarry in TN

Two persons were killed and three others injured when explosives used for bursting rocks went off while being checked in a quarry in Tamil Nadu, PTI reported.

Police said the quarry supervisor had set the timer on the explosives to explode on 12 September, but as it had rained heavily, therefore it did not explode. He came to the site again last evening and as he was examining the explosives, it exploded.

The supervisor died on the spot while four workers who were with him were seriously injured.
