• Vishal Rana, the main accused in Mohammad Akhlaq’s muder and the son of local a BJP leader, got bail on Monday, according to NDTV.
• Akhlaq was lynched by a mob in September 2015 on the suspicion that the meat in his fridge was beef and not mutton.
• In 2016, one of the accused in the case died in custody and his body was wrapped in the tri-colour, leading to controversy.
