BJP legislature party leader BS Yeddyurappa was on Thursday, 17 May, sworn-in as the Chief Minister of Karnataka for a third time, after an overnight high-voltage legal battle in the Supreme Court.

The 75-year-old Lingayat strongman was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Governor Vajubhai Vala at a ceremony at Raj Bhavan amid chants of “Modi, Modi.”

Yeddyurappa was administered the oath alone, hours after the Supreme Court refused to stay his swearing-in. Yeddyurappa has 15 days to prove his majority in the Assembly.

As the formation of Karnataka’s new government is getting murkier by the minute, Twitter had to have it’s fun over Yeddyurappa taking oath as the chief minister. Some expressed disappointment while some got creative and quirky.

“Attack on Democracy”

Accusing the BJP of misusing the office of the governor, people have come out to call this political manoeuvring a threat to the democratic system.
