A day after a Mumbai-based Times Now journalist and his friends were attacked by a group of unknown men in the wee hours of Sunday, 14 October, all four accused were arrested on Monday.

Herman Gomes, in a Facebook post, said that while he was returning home, a group of men were already waiting to thrash him with knuckle dusters. According to Times Now, the assault took place at around 1:30 am on Sunday.

“Tonight while returning with my friend, I was attacked by an unknown group of people right outside my Bombay House.. It was clearly pre-planned. They were armed with a knuckle duster,” Gomes wrote in the Facebook post.

Herman Gomes took to Facebook to narrate the incident.

Gomes has been badly bruised in the attack and has suffered six stitches around his eye.

“My eye is badly affected and so is my body. I don't know which story affected people so much. I don't know these people too,” he posted.

An FIR was registered at the Gamdevi police station regarding the incident and a police investigation was launched. Cops are yet to ascertain the motive behind the attack. Meanwhile, according to The Indian Express, the police reportedly apprehended four people in relation to the attack.

Mumbai Press Club Calls Attack ‘Dastardly Act’

Journalists' associations in the city condemned the attack and alleged that police did not file the victim's complaint promptly.

The Mumbai Press Club termed the attack on Gomes a "dastardly act". An association of crime reporters in the city, in a statement, demanded the immediate arrest of the assailants.

It urged Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to take action against the police officers who allegedly delayed registration of the First Information Report (FIR) in the matter.
