The Quint Bags the Young Journalist Trophy at CMS Vatavaran Awards

The Quint’s reporter Aishwarya S Iyer won the Young Environment Journalist Award in the online category at the CMS Vatavaran Awards 2017. Iyer won the award for her RTI-based story on the recurrence of urban flooding which showed how the government didn't have any data to tackle flooding.

The other two submissions made were Ganga clean-up project on Namami Gange, and another RTI-based story on finding out how much of the budget the environment ministry spends on research.

The Indian Express’ Sowmiya Ashok and Hindustan Times’ Ritam Haldar, also won the award in the print category.

CMS VATAVARAN is an environment and wildlife film festival and forum which is aimed at enhancing understanding, appreciation and shift in attitudes towards the natural world and to increase space for environmental issues in mass media.
