Tejas Express Reaches Mumbai a Minute Early, Despite 3-Hour Delay
An empty coach from Mumbai arrived late, delaying the train.
India’s luxury train Tejas Express train reached its destination 1 minute early, despite leaving three hours late on the evening of 11 June.
The train left Goa’s Karmali Station at 10.30 am – after its scheduled 7.30 am departure – and travelled a distance of 750 km to reach Mumbai’s Chattrapati Shivaji Terminus at 7.44 pm.
According to reports, an empty coach from Mumbai arrived late, delaying the train. The railways have changed the timetable to suit the monsoon season. Under this timetable, the Tejas Express will now have a travel time of 12-15 hours, as opposed to its usual eight-and-half hours, reported Hindustan Times. "The changed timetable led to the delay. This train is always on time otherwise,” LK Verma chief spokesperson of Konkan Railways told Hindustan Times.
The train was earlier in news for the large-scale theft of headphones on board,a week after it was flagged off by Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu on 22 May. The Tejas Express boasts of high-tech entertainment units, wi-fi facility, and integrated braille displays. It will run on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. between 10 June and 31 October — monsoon season.
