An Indian student, who was allegedly brutally assaulted in Poland and was claimed to have died, has survived the attack, according to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.

Swaraj on Friday night spoke to the Indian ambassador to Poland Ajay Bisaria regarding the assault on an Indian student in Poznan city whose name was not disclosed.

Swaraj on Friday sought a report from the Indian Ambassador in Poland regarding a media report of an Indian student allegedly beaten to death in Poznan city in the country.

Swaraj’s comment came in response to a tweet by a netizen who approached her with a news item in the Polish media about the death of an Indian student after being beaten.

The case was investigated by the Polish police, but people took notice of the incident only on Thursday as the officers who were investigating the case did not speak English.
