After the suicide of several children across India was linked to the controversial online game, Blue Whale challenge, the Supreme Court on Monday agreed to hear the petition seeking a nation-wide ban on the game.
The PIL was filed by Madurai-based lawyer NS Ponnaiah, through Jaya Sukin, reported Live Law.
According to the report, Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra agreed to hear the petition after Sukin insisted that the game was gaining popularity through social media platforms.
He alleged that around 200 people had lost their lives due to the game.
He added that while other countries had taken steps to curb the spread of the game, India had not done anything.
