The Rajasthan government stated on Saturday, 15 September, that it would appeal before the Rajasthan High Court against the acquittal of actors Sonali Bendre, Neelam Kothari, Tabu, Saif Ali Khan and Jodhpur resident Dushyant Singh, in the blackbuck poaching case, reported ANI.

The actors had earlier been acquitted by the Jodhpur court for lack of evidence against them in April 2018. However, the court had found Salman Khan guilty and had convicted and sentenced him to five years imprisonment for killing two blackbucks, according to ANI.

The incident had occurred during the shooting of the 1998 film 'Hum Saath Saath Hain'. All the actors had been present in Jodhpur at the time.

In August, a Jodhpur sessions court had ruled that Salman Khan would need to seek its permission every time he has to travel abroad. The actor had sought exemption against this and the matter came up for hearing.

At the hearing, the state government’s counsel reportedly stated that the government would be appealing against the acquittal of the five others who were under the scanner for the case, according to India Today.
