Punjab local bodies Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu slammed Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Friday, 8 March, after he was not included in the list of speakers at the Congress’ rally at Moga, reported Hindustan Times.
“If I am not good enough to speak at Rahul’s rally, I am not good enough as a speaker and a campaigner,” Siddhu said, miffed at the Congress for ‘showing him his place’.
Punjab’s state cooperation Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa’s department was the organiser of the debt waiver function. “Captain Amarinder Singh and All India Congress Committee general secretary in-charge of Punjab affairs Asha Kumari asked me to name just four speakers,” Randhawa said.
Punjab Congress President Sunil Jakhar took Sidhu’s side and said, not inviting him to speak at the event was an oversight. “Sidhu is our party’s star campaigner. It was an oversight on part of the party.”
