Activists’ Arrests: SC to Hear Review Plea on Friday

The Supreme Court will be hearing on Friday, 26 October, the review plea of historian Romila Thapar against the verdict that refused an Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into the arrests of five activists in connection with the Bhima Koregaon case and allowed the Maharashtra police to continue with the investigation, reported ANI.

The Supreme Court on Friday, 28 September, had ruled that the activists in the Bhima Koregaon case will continue being under house arrest for four more weeks, while rejecting the plea for an SIT probe in the case. However, Justice DY Chandrachud was was in dissent in the 2:1 verdict, and said that an SIT probe was required.
